Frequently Asked Questions
Will The Cleaning Ladies arrive at the same time every clean?
Our scheduling provides an approximate time The Ladies will arrive but we cannot guarantee this as they may experience delays due to traffic or have been held up at a previous Client. The Ladies will usually phone you if there is a problem.
What do I do with my pets while The Cleaning Ladies are here?
Although our Ladies are “pet friendly”, it is far better if you can keep your pets in a room, outside or in their crate while The Cleaning Ladies are there. It's a lot easier to clean the house without the cat chasing the mop or having the dog freak out when the vacuum cleaner is turned on!
Do I tip each time and if so, how much?
For those working in the service industry, be it as a waiter, taxi driver, bellman, hair dresser, manicurist, parking attendant or a housecleaner, tips are always appreciated. It is appropriate to tip your housecleaners when deserved. While 15% to 18% is considered the norm for good service in most industries, 10% of the cleaning fee is generally deemed appropriate for housecleaners. However, the decision as to whether to tip or not and how much to leave is entirely a personal matter; it is not a mandatory obligation. Should you choose to leave a gesture of appreciation for your Cleaning Ladies, a gift of cash rather than a check is the practice preferred by most housecleaners.
Can you change my day/time if I have to be out of town?
We are always willing to work with you if you need to be out of town on the day of your clean and do not wish the team to come that day. Please give us as much notice as possible (at least 48 hours or Friday morning for Mondays) if you need to change your schedule.
Why do you charge $25.00 if I do not cancel on time?
We have spent a long time building up a good team of people to clean your home. The Ladies rely on you, the Client, for their income. If you suddenly cancel or are not at home when they arrive, that is lost revenue to them. The $25 charge goes to the team to cover their time and gas. One way of overcoming this is for us to keep a key.
Do I provide my own products for cleaning?
The Cleaning Ladies are fully equipped with “green” Proctor & Gamble cleaning products, cloths, vacuums and mops etc. You only need to show The Ladies where you keep trash liners and where to leave the trash. Some Clients like to use some of their own products and we are happy to oblige.
Do I get the same Ladies each time?
We will assign a Team Leader to you when we start your service. We endeavor to keep that continuity but occasionally we have to change teams for reasons such as vacations, promotion, they leave or if you change your schedule.
Why do you offer free cleaning for women undergoing cancer treatment?
It is our way of giving back to the community. Our Cleaning Ladies volunteer several hours each month to women undergoing cancer treatment. The Cleaning Ladies provides the equipment and products to carry out these tasks. It is much appreciated by women who do not have the strength at that time to keep on top of their homes. For more information on this program, please contact us.
How do I pay for my cleaning?
You can pay for your cleaning either by check, cash or credit/debit card (MasterCard/Visa). If leaving cash or a check you pay the Team Leader on the day (or leave it on the kitchen counter if not home).
What if I have any special cleaning requests? Your cleaning team is responsible for cleaning several homes each working day. While they will be happy to accommodate special requests that you may have from time to time (such as cleaning the oven, inside the refrigerator, and washing windows), it will be easier for them to accommodate your wishes if you provide them with advance notice. Rather than leaving a note asking them to do an extra assignment today, notifiy us in advance or leave a note asking them to do the task on their next regular cleaning visit. In this way, your team can plan their cleaning schedule ahead of time.
Do I need to be home when The Cleaning Ladies come to clean?
No. Many Clients work and have given us a key or entry code which is kept safely in the key cabinet and issued only on the day of the clean. It is nice on your first clean to be there and show them over your home, but it is not essential.
Do I have to sign a Contract with The Cleaning Ladies Services?
No, we do not ask you to sign a contract for our service. We do ask you to have respect for your cleaning team; they are professionally trained and will often go the “extra mile” when treated with courtesy.
